School Trips Should Insured With Travel Insurance
Travel insurance applies to anyone who wants to travel the world, and it includes domestic travels. There are far too many risks involved in any kind of trip, whether it’s for vacation or business. They include unexpected medical expenses, disasters caused by natural phenomena (like earthquakes and floods), court litigations, delayed departures, loss of luggage and money, kidnaps and ransoms, accidents, and even death. There is no doubt that traveling students would greatly benefit from travel insurance. So if you are student that intends to travel, make sure that you are covered with student travel insurance.
There are different types of travel insurance, such as medical, business, single-trip, multi-trip (also known as annual family travel insurance), and group travel insurances. Student travel insurance may take the form of a single-trip insurance, annual, medical or even group travel insurance, with tailor made specifications to suit the student’s needs. The group travel insurance cover, specifically, covers students who are traveling in a group. After all, educational field trips are the main reason of student travels.
Students with travel insurance are typically covered on many things. Basic things like medical costs, loss of possessions, interruptions in travel itinerary, personal liabilities, and emergency expenses are covered. Other options that a student may request to have included are injury and accidental death, repatriation, delay in flights and defaulting by tour operators. Insurance companies regard student travels as high-risk activities. They are considered more daring than many other travelers. So are the activities for which they are insured against. This is even more applicable for students who love extreme sports such as bungee jumping, skiing, rock climbing, or scuba diving, among other activities.
A standard policy will offer compensation for any medical expenses incurred during the trip, delayed departures or cancelled trips, transport costs incurred in the event of an illness or injury, and reimbursements for those whose trips have been shortened unexpectedly. Although, it should be mentioned that some particular policies will not fully cover lost baggage during the trip. Therefore, it is recommended to request a policy upgrade if your luggage will involve a lot of valuable things like laptops and other pricey equipment.
Keep in mind that there are special types of policies for students. Student backpackers, for example, have their specific kind of insurance. Unlike the standard travel insurance that is for a limited period, a backpacker’s insurance is designed to cover a prolonged travel period as well as addressing the unique needs of the backpacker. Insurance companies also provide student travel insurance for students studying abroad. However, this specific policy has limited medical coverage.
A number of insurance providers offer student travel insurance. A little research and travel insurance comparison of policies from different insurance providers will enable the student to choose the best policy cover to suit his/her needs.
