Parkway Drive Albums And The Band's History
Parkway Drive is an Australian metalcore band that was formed in New South Wales in 2002. The band has three albums to date and these are: Killing With A Smile, Horizons, and Deep Blue. Since they are among the most popular bands today, they have many types of Parkway Drive merch for the personal collection of their followers.
The band's hometown is Byron Bay, described as an idyllic, tranquil paradise of sandy beaches and lush tropical foliage. It is a backpacker's haven and has gained a tourist destination status through the years. It is therefore quite surprising that a metalcore band like the Parkway Drive would emerge from this quiet town.
The band has for its members: Winston McCall at vocals, Jeff Ling and Luke Kilpatrick playing guitars, Ben Gordon in charge of percussion, and Jia O'Connor playing the bass guitar.
How The Band Was Formed
Unlike other band names, Parkway Drive got their name in a not so mysterious way. Back in 2002 when they were still getting started, they used to practice in the garage of a house that was on Parkway Drive. It is as simple as that.
A few months later, they released what is called a split EP with another band called I Killed The Prom Queen which was based from Adelaide. The EP was aptly titled "I Killed The Prom Queen / Parkway Drive Split CD.
It was Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz who then produced the first of their Parkway Drive albums and it was titled Killing With A Smile. The album was launched in August of 2005 under Epitaph Records.
But just after a year since their first album came out, Shaun Cash, who was at bass guitar, decided to call it quits. He was replaced by Jia "Pie" O'Connor. When the band finally started their first international tour, Jia was already playing bass guitar for them.
Parkway Drive's first album was then praised by critics for its technical precision and for its appeal to all the extreme music fanatics.
On October 6, 2007 the band's next album, Horizons, was released. It contained their hit single "The Sirens' Song" which they originally played before a crowd at Underworld a few months earlier. They immediately followed the album's release with a tour of the United States, Europe, and Australia.
The album debuted at the number 6 spot of the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Albums Chart and also at the 27th spot of the Top Heatseekers chart.
The latest of the Parkway Drive albums is Deep Blue which was released on June 29, 2010 under Epitaph Records. It was recorded in Los Angeles, California. It was also the longest interval from their last released album which was three years ago. Deep Blue debuted at no. 2 in the ARIA charts and at no. 39 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Parkway Drive described this album as telling the story of a man who realized that his life was full of lies and so embarked on a journey to find the truth. He went everywhere, including at the bottom of the sea and went back again.
With their string of album, tour successes, as well as increased demand for their band merch, Parkway Drive is surely one of Australia's biggest metalcore bands who have reached beyond the continent. Will they able to get a good grip with the rest of the world? Only time will tell.

A backpack fitted with pocket(s) that are suspended on the wearer"s front side (chest) and loaded in such a way that the load in the front and the load in the back are about equal is called a bodypack. The majority of the load on a bodypack is carried by the hips.
