Best Horror Movies 2006
2006 was a banner year and the top horror films of 2006 list of horror movies, of which some used green screen backgrounds in green screen studios, that I present here will be slightly controversial, however, these lists always are. The main reason no one can agree with these listings is the fact that while a number of individuals consider all slasher movies to be scary, a few only believe that supernatural elements make up the horror category. We cannot be that particular so we'll assess them all in the following summation lest we offend any sensitivities out there.
“Feast” which is directed by John Gulager was actually released in the year 2005 but didn't hit the cinemas right up until of 2006. Featuring the normal zombies run amok plot, it goes off track quickly and remains pretty disturbing. Very gory and frightening and unquestionably a must see. Few fantastic horror movies have been made from excellent horror books but the very best of the ton are “The Exorcist” (original book by William Peter Blatty), “Carrie” (Stephen King), and “The Shining” (King once again).
Six girls get trapped in an underground cave maze while spelunking and are chased by albino earth-dwelling creatures in this rather frightening movie directed by Neil Marshall. The best thing about this movie is that they build the story plot and characters thoroughly to make certain that we as an audience get extremely involved with each individual. We care about what happens to them and so the frightening parts are even more terrifying.
“Hostel” is as well in my top horror motion pictures of 2006 list even though it lacks a supernatural element to it since it is intensely frightening at times and always disturbing. A team of backpackers going to Europe get attracted right into a hostel that has gorgeous girls running around in skimpy outfits. They get kidnapped and placed as victims into a “torture club” for wealthy sickos. Not really for the children.
One more of the top scary films of 2006 is “Turistas” which a lot of people disliked but I liked, considering I've spent lots of time in the jungles of Central America and can connect with the topic. Tourists being robbed and set upon by the locals always makes for fantastic suspense cinema. Certainly not conventional “horror” but terrifying enough as a suspense film. What what people mean about “horror” anyway? Does anyone actually get mortified anymore? Probably the most these kinds of movies will do to common jaded audiences is really a shock now and then which makes all of them jump out of their own seat.
The very last motion picture that's definitely horrifying was “The Exorcist” which stayed with you long after you left the theater. That feeling of fear which made you afraid to get to sleep alone during the night does not arrive frequently. One more movie which terrified me like that was “The Blair Witch Project” but I do know a lot of people resented it and even got sick watching the moving camera shots. “Paranormal Activity” was like Blair Witch, with plenty of handheld camera parts even though not quite as many as in Blair Witch or Cloverfield.
Grab the popcorn and gummy bears. Time for you to get scared!
