The resort also has swimming pools, trampolines, a skate park, a high water slide, jumping castles, lapa, a playground for children, tarred roads and easy access. The Hartbeespoort Dam has quickly become Gauteng's playground. The area surrounding the resort has become a thriving town offering a mixture of the old and the new. The restaurants in the area range from take away to country to traditional and include Portuguese, Italian and German dishes. In addition, the area has a number of pubs, flea markets, art galleries, roadside exhibitions and tourist shops. Of all the restaurants in hartbeespoort dam, AfricanSwiss is one such eclectic restaurant. Open for lunch and dinner, 7 days a week, the menu is enough to have you salivating. It is an open plan kitchen, so diners can sip on their drinks, converse and watch their meals being prepared at the same time. Only the freshest ingredients are used, attributing to the excellent quality of the food. Swiss style bread is baked on a daily basis and you can snack on cheese fondue made from Swiss cheeses which have specially been imported. If you are in the mood for pizza, you can order the new addition which is sour dough pizza. The flour is organic and the pizza is wood fired. Alternatively, if you are in the mood for sushi, you can enjoy freshly made California Rolls, Makis, Fashion Sandwiches and vegetarian Nigiri.
