For me, coming to Bali became a travellers' delight. Nothing could beat travel fatigue more enjoyable then the friendly, smiling Balinese faces with the Customs and Immigrations with the Denpasar airport as well as the ' Visa on arrival' stamped at my passport for 10 USD in fifteen minutes flat!
An original way for heard that Bali was an island of temples, dances, and age-old rituals; with over 95 per cents of your 3 million people practice a variety of Hinduism. But nothing prepared me for the spot-on recital of Gayatri Mantra' by my taxi driver, followed by a song from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai within the same breath. I had been dazzled by the Bollywood craze while in this Far East city, so much in fact, i always was instantly labelled from Shah Rukh Khan's country' by every taxi driver and native I met!
Visiting the airport, most tourists head straight for the beach areas of Kuta, Sanur, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua, I picked Kuta simply because it is arguably the centre of night life activities along with an array of sellers, boutiques, and galleries- what more could I seek!
Bali supplies a vast portion of hotels for those budgets, directly from easy and cheap accommodation for backpackers to five star hotels with indulgent spas in chicago those seeking pure luxury. I stayed along at the Hard Rock Hotel, a stone's throw away that come from the Kuta beach.
At sunset, the Kuta beach comes alive, with people planning to delight in the stunning panorama. Teeming tourist, locals selling the colourful sarongs and batiks and a Balinese dance performance somewhere on endless stretch of the coast...if you want to dance away into your wee hours of the morning, you wont be disappointed- pubbing is amazing in Kuta, which has a wide variety of choices with pubs and discos offering a vibrant nightlife.
The easiest way to enjoy Kuta is by simply asking the locals, that are very friendly an always ready to help you. I had been lucky to have a very successful Indian friend in Indonesia- Kishore Pridhnani, who along with his wife Radha took me to have a night tour of the total number of the chic places in Kuta. The one that left an enduring impression at my mind was Ku De Ta, a flowery restaurant overlooking the beach. I absolutely loved the atmosphere in the night and recommend this restaurant to anyone.
However, if the type of vacation is usually to relax and let down some hair, make the trip to the southern peninsula, with world-class, self-contained luxury hotels placed on quiet stretches of beach of Sanur and Nusa Dua, in addition to in Jimbaran Bay. (which happens to be also well known for very reasonable Sea food) These white sand beaches dotted by thousands of mangrove and coconut trees and sheltered by coral reefs, create a perfect haven for honeymooners or those preferring solitude.
To move a prospect that come from the problems of Kuta, I headed for Ubud, which I must say has retained the feel of a comfortable village retreat, despite of the growing tourism industry. Ubud is your arts and crafts capital of Bali, so in addition to streets lined with lined with shops and workshops specialising in traditional crafts, there are a selection of various art galleries and museums to go to.
A future I headed for a day-trip cruise from Benoa Harbor that took me towards the Lembongan Island, a well known spot for surfers and scuba divers. (at approx. USD 60 onwards for your day-cruise inclusive of lunch, I believe it's a worth an outing). Arriving around the white sandy beaches of Lembongan Bay, you are able to bring the guided snorkelling trips and glass-bottom boat cruise or simply walk amidst the native Balinese villages
If you wish to take a break that come from the beach scenario, I suggest a visit into your cool mountains of Kintamani along with its green rice fields, the placid Lake Batur that rests inside of a huge crater as well as the impressive Gunung Batur volcano that dominates the landscape. The evenings are inclined to get cooler, so carry a warm pullover or perhaps a shawl and make sure you have got camera with you to capture the spectacular view of Mt Batur.
Bali is among the Spa Capitals of the world for you to indulge yourself in a spa treatment at very reasonable prices. If you need to spoil yourself then you have the option to sample because of an elaborate menu of lulur massages, rice-paste exfoliations, flower petal aroma baths and indulgent cream baths. We d suggest you check some of the local spas that work spa therapies within your holiday schedule each day. And don't forget the traditional drinks manufactured from herbs and roots- jamu', a native Balinese remedy for fatigue, headaches, aching bones or chills.
For adventurous and sporty, Bali comes with a host of adrenaline-pumping water-sports, both below and above water. Surfing, scuba diving, banana boats, snorkelling, parasailing, Jet Ski, Bungee Jumping, Bali offers almost everything.
Do try the river rafting around the Ayung River amidst a wild tropical forest. Ride the fast-flowing Ayung river while it carves its way with numerous hairpin curves and swirling rapids. Total day programme would only will cost about USD 35 onwards and I found the experience thoroughly stimulating.
For the individuals who love underwater world and always wanted to dive, there is spectacular scuba diving and snorkelling from the unspoiled coral reefs around the island, with amazing and vivid underwater life. You can even find learner's courses by qualified professional instructors of the amateurs (you could use a day's course at under USD 100)
And though you happen to be on the coast experiencing the water sports, do fancy the locals who cajole you into trying hair braiding, getting tattoo done or even possess a relaxing massage.
When you are travelling with your kids, be sure you take them to the Waterboom Park. My kids but i enjoyed on a daily basis of waterslides and pools in every sizes with restaurants and snack bars within arms reach...good family fun for teens of all walks of life!
If you feel as if i'm venturing outside to get a meal, there are plenty of breezy open sided bamboo cafes serving authentic Balinese food along with a wide selection of sumptuous international cuisine. But for those that miss Indian food, You might want to check out a delicious meal for the Queen's Tandoor in Seminyak, in which the owners Puneet and Neeta Malhotra exit of a typical way to pamper you with personal attention.
Another big pastime this is shopping!
For people who do not need to wander too far from the beach, Sanur, Kuta and Ubud having than enough to appease any shopper, from sarongs and sandals to wooden statues, stone carvings and iron and bronze works. But if you are willing to are eager on shopping, you are able to buy branded stuff from malls like Mahatari or also look out for Factory Sales of branded clothes.
You'll find the ultimate in open-air market browsing in southern Bali, where traditional Asian-style shopping still thrives. Do check out the local painting styles. I suggest, you always are available in at less than a 3rd of a typical price and bolt, until you obtain the value you want. .
And before you permit Bali don't forget to purchase their chilly sauce called Sambal (its one of it's kind and you may even show great progress at the duty free at Bali Airport.)
That come from the locals raving over Shah Rukh Khan into the colourful Balinese-Hindu culture, this tropical paradise lures Indians, not only by its natural exquisiteness but more importantly by its culture and the warmth of the Balinese people.
With Bali increasingly accessible and affordable, with cheap extension packages from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore and super deals from Garuda Indonesia Airlines who have daily flights connecting the Island for as low as USD 160 for only a round trip ticket, I would defiantly recommend this island getaway as your next travel itinerary!
