What are the backpacker hostels in Los Angeles like?

I backpacker Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand and have always lived in a long-term housing, while in those countries as a way to make friends quickly and easily. LA has many hostels, but I do not find all information on the web about this one that has plenty of time to live in temporary. Can anyone advise me? And for those who have been there, are dominate nationalities can I expect to encounter during a trip? Asked about the nationalities that I mean other passengers, not LA lol

I never saw a youth hostel here, I have seen in Europe. nationalities … well, apart from Americans who are Caucasian, LA has it all! but some of the ethnic groups you see are most African Americans and Latinos, and Asians probably.
