It's great when you can take your laptop with you. Whether you enjoy getting extra work done in the coffee shop, you like to take movies and other media on the go, or you're a busy student going from class, to the library, to the dorm, you want to make sure your computer is being transported safely and securely.
Backpacks are great for carrying numerous items while keeping your hands free. They help distribute the weight of your carry across your back for comfort and mobility. If you're a bike rider, you know a backpack is one of the best ways to transport cargo without interfering with your ride. However, if you were to place your laptop in an ordinary backpack, you would defiantly risk damage. If you want the convenience of a backpack and a safe way to transport your laptop, finding a quality laptop backpack is a great idea. Here are some factors to consider and help you select the right laptop backpack.
First, you want to measure the dimensions of your laptop when it's closed. This includes height (depth) as well as the length and width. Also consider the size of your adaptor and any other accessories and devices you'll be carrying. With these measurements, you can ensure the backpack you choose will not be too snug, but that it will also not be too large. Too much space can mean your laptop will not be held secure and can be jostled around during transport. You can risk damaging your computer this way.
If you plan on carrying books or other items in addition to your laptop, make sure you choose a backpack with accommodating compartments. Putting other items in with your laptop can damage it during transport. Try to anticipate what you'll carry so you don't end up overloading the bag and causing strain on the seams or closures. Damaged closures can cause compartments to open and your items, including you laptop, can go spilling to the ground.
You want to ensure the backpack has adequate padding for impact absorption and the protection of your laptop, but too much padding may feel bulky or uncomfortable. Some manufacturers have made very sleek, backpacks that are more streamline than traditional backpack designs. These are usually more comfortable for commuters using mass transit, or anyone concerned with a wearing bulky bag on their back. This is a good reason to try a few backpacks in person and then do your price comparison, sale hunting and purchasing online.
Once you are sure of the size, compartments and padding that will best suit your needs, you can focus on personal preferences, like closures, colors and patterns. As more and more people carry their computers with them, manufacturers continue to offer a range of different styles to suit every taste and budget.
