Tulum Offers A Lower Cost Of Living Than Other Popular Beach Destinations
Tulum is a fascinating beach town in Mexico that promises abounding wildlife, ruins from the Mayan era, and is also deemed a rising hotspot for stars. The laidback daily life of such beach towns is why many Americans are mapping out how to retire to mexico. Situated only 80 miles from Cancun, a leading visitor spot with high rise condos and resorts, Tulum is the complete opposite of contemporary visitor places. Far apart from Cancun, Tulum is filled with natural reserves, eye-catching beaches as well as rich customs handed down from the Mayans. Tulum is known as a backpacker's dream come true as the crystal blue waters attracts tourists from all around the globe.
Close encounters with turtles
More recently, there was an entertaining DailyMail.co.uk report authored by Travel Editor Sarah Gordon. Sarah narrated her amazing experiences in Tulum. While vacationing in Tulum, Sarah discovered that an enormous turtle was crawling towards the beach to lay eggs right outside her hotel. A substantial crowd slowly collected to witness the ancient creature dig holes in the sand and lay more than 100 eggs. As the mother-to-be slipped back into the ocean, it made many realize that nature was right outside the door in Tulum!
Tulum as an eco friendly destination
The main reason many people prefer Tulum as a holiday spot is because developers have not yet changed the topography of this sleepy and historical beach town into a booming visitor spot. Boutique hotels in addition to beach cabanas line up the coasts of Tulum. A majority of these beaches implement environmentally friendly behavior that make Tulum an exceptionally preferred destination for nature fanatics also. Celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Sienna Miller, Amanda Seyfried in addition to Natalie Imbruglia are routinely seen rejuvenating in this low key getaway. Tulum is also the location of mouth-watering Italian cuisine together with local Mexican cuisine. Tulum is considered to be a less expensive option to various other prominent vacation spots.
Mayan history and influences
Local Mayans manage the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve that is committed to safe guarding the various flora and fauna of the region. Quite a few local guides in the area are Mayans by decent and teach you the Mayan influences found in the customs and architecture of the peninsula. The Mayans also are convinced that sinkholes and natural swimming pools are paths leading to the afterlife. The Mayan influence has been embedded in local theme parks such as the Xcaret and Xel-Ha. Parks featuring entertaining family attractions like snorkeling, nature trails and swimming with dolphins also feature Mayan legends and myths to observe the resilience of the civilization. Probably the most discussed Mayan myth is the approaching Armageddon in 2012. After the myth became popular internationally, tourism authorities of the Yucatan Peninsula established big billboards to get the interest of guests. This myth has not been taken seriously by the authorities and is only a publicity promotion to raise awareness in regards to the Mayan culture. But it's much welcome because vacation spots like Tulum offer so much to the tourist crowd!
