The North Face Vario 23 Tent, A Closer Look
If you are looking to buy a 3 season 2 person tent you could do a lot worse than the North Face Vario 23 Tent. The Vario managed to win the award from backpacker magazine for best single wall tent in 2008 and is still a great tent. The reasons for this are simple the vario does what it it's supposed to do. When spending your hard earnt money on a 3 season 2 person tent to avoid it being a waste of money you will want the tent to cover three main bases well.
Firstly you will want the tent to be lightweight so that it doesn't weigh your back pack down on long hikes. At a maximum weight of 4 pounds 5 ounces the Vario does this very nicely.
the second thing that you will want to be assured of with your tent is that it is fully waterproof so you don't wake up in a puddle of water. With a fully seam sealed tent canopy and taped seams on the base of the tent the vario should keep you warm and dry.
Last but not least you will want a tent that can be put up quickly so you can escape a storm or so you get more time to relax. The Vario 23 tent also does well on this front the microclips enable the tent to be pitched quickly by clipping the tent to the poles rather than the fiddly job of threading them through e normal pole tunnels.
The good points of the vario 23 don't stop here either. Storage inside the tent is aided by several internal pockets. the vestibules are another handy storage option at just over six sq ft each. The high/low vents will help to keep condensation from building up throughout the night and keep the fresh ari flowing.
Another great feature is the upper level lift vent created using the brow pole, this allows the tent to work with the wind rather than against it, letting you have a comfortable night’s sleep without feeling as if you are going to be blown off the mountain.
North Face back up their Vario 23 tent with a full lifetime warranty, it’s useful to know that they have faith in their tents!
I think that all of the above makes the tent stand out amongst the other 3 season 2 person tents. This tent covers all the bases you want for a tent like this and then gives you more for good measure.
I am sure the North Face Vario 23 would make a very loyal companion on camping trips whether be in spring, summer or fall.
