Starting To Play The Guitar
It's a joy to sit down and play the guitar. I do remember the days when my fingers hurt from playing guitar when I first started playing the instrument Will your fingers get sore too? That seems to happen to most people.
One of my favorite things about the guitar is that it is so easy to take with you. I just happen to love camping and backpacking. I ended up keeping an old battered up guitar for these trips. No need to worry about the guitar falling onto rocks… which did happen.
Just imagine how much fun it is to have a guitar with you. At the end of the day, we sat around a campfire singing songs. Some of the other campers played too, so it was fun to share the guitar and hear their playing too.
There are also little traveling guitars that can fit on the overhead compartment in planes. I bought one of these and have taken it on trips to Europe and also around the US. Taking a full size guitar can be a real hassle simply because they often want you to pay the full ticket cost for a seat for your instrument.
I wouldn't trust my guitar in baggage because they are handled so roughly. I've heard more than one horror story how someone's good guitar was destroyed by attendants throwing it under planes. Little traveling guitars are a great alternative because there is no need to check them in... you can simple carry them onto the plane.
The one I bought is called a Martin Backpacker, but there are quite a few to pick from these days. Yes, I think it’s a great idea to have an old guitar to take to the mountains and beaches, a little guitar for traveling and a good guitar to play at home.With three guitars, you will ready for any occasion.
