Best Horror Motion Pictures 2006
The year 2006 was a banner year and the very best horror films 2006 list of horror movies, of which some used green screen backgrounds in green screen studios, that I present here will be somewhat controversial, however, these lists always are. The main reason nobody can agree with these lists is the fact that while a few individuals consider all slasher movies to be scary, a few only believe that supernatural elements make up the horror genre. We can’t be that particular so we'll assess all of them in the following compendium lest we hurt any sensitivities out there.
“Feast” which is directed by John Gulager was actually released in 2005 but failed to hit the movie theaters until of 2006. Presenting the normal zombies run amok plot, it goes off track quickly and stays fairly unsettling. Incredibly gory and scary and absolutely a must see. Very few fantastic horror motion pictures have been made from great horror books but the best of the gang are “The Exorcist” (original book by William Peter Blatty), “Carrie” (Stephen King), and “The Shining” (King once again).
6 ladies get trapped in an underground cave maze while spelunking and are chased by albino earth-dwelling creatures in this rather terrifying motion picture directed by Neil Marshall. The best thing in regards to this movie is that they develop the story plot and characters thoroughly to ensure that we as an audience get very involved with every person. We care about what happens to them and as a result the terrifying parts are even more terrifying.
“Hostel” is as well in my very best scary films of 2006 list although it lacks a supernatural element to it because it is greatly frightening at times and often disturbing. A team of backpackers going to Europe get lured right into a hostel that has stunning ladies running around in revealing outfits. They get kidnapped and placed as victims into a “torture club” for wealthy sickos. Definitely not for the children.
One more of the very best terror motion pictures 2006 is “Turistas” which a number of people disliked but I liked, mainly because I've spent a lot of time in the jungles of Central America and can connect with the subject matter. Tourists being robbed and set upon by the residents makes for excellent suspense cinema. Not really conventional “horror” but frightening enough as a suspense movie. Just what constitutes “horror” anyway? Does anyone truly get mortified anymore? Probably the most these films will do to common jaded audiences is a jolt once in a while that makes them jump out of their own seats.
The very last movie that was absolutely scary was “The Exorcist” that stayed with you long after you left the cinema. That feeling of dread which made you frightened to sleep alone during the night doesn't come along frequently. One more movie which scared me like that was “The Blair Witch Project” however I do know lots of people hated it and even got ill watching the moving camera shots. “Paranormal Activity” was much like Blair Witch, with plenty of handheld camera parts although not quite as numerous as in Blair Witch or Cloverfield.
Grab the popcorn and gummy bears. Time for you to get fearful!
