Iran Only Thinks To Let Sarah Shourd Of Everyone Head Out
Last year, 3 individuals backpacked in the area composed of Turkey, Iraq and Iran called Kurdistan. The majority of people who reside there are the Kurds. That is how it got its name. Iranian law enforcement took all hikers into custody and accused them of espionage and of being spies. Authorities promised to release one and then recanted, and now have flip-flopped again and liberated Sarah Shourd, one of the hikers. The United States wouldn't pay the $500,000 that Iranian authorizes demanded for her release. Her fiancé was hiking with her and is nevertheless in custody.
Hiking with intent to spy
All three captured hikers, Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal, work within the Middle East. Shourd's fiancé is Bauer. Kurdistan is known to be the most free part of the southern parts of Iraq when it comes to conflict. This is why they were vacationing there. While hiking outside of Zalem, a village in Iraqi Kurdistan, the hikers were detained by the Iranian national police, according to The Nation. It is not all that easy to figure out where the border really is. Locals, nevertheless, explain that it is common to see Iranian forces in Iraq.
One hiker freed
Several weeks ago, the Iranian government announced it would release Sarah Shourd on $500,000 bail, which the U.S. government said it would not pay. After making the statement, the government changed its mind in Iran. As a result of health reasons, the government changed its mind again and released Sarah Shourd on bail. This comes from CNN. Ever since the 1979 the Swiss are acting as liaison when Washington and Tehran have no relations. Supposedly, a banking account in Oman is where the bail originated from. Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal weren't as lucky. They're nevertheless in Iranian custody.
Espionage isn't true
Sources said that the backpackers didn't cross to the Iranian border ever. People from the area where they were captured have repeatedly said that Iranian police and intelligence operatives openly and notoriously cross the border and detain people. The case should only take a few minutes. Any judge can do a trespassing charge in about 10 minutes. Political motives are likely the case here. That would be the only reason to keep detaining the hikers.
